Mercedes-Benz India has opened the bookings for the new Mercedes-Benz CLA electric. Interested customers can book the EV online or at their nearest dealerships. The booking amount is set at Rs 1.5 lakh. The new CLA will be launched in April 2026, and the deliveries of the CLA 250+ Long Range will begin from the end of April, soon after the official launch. Deliveries of the CLA 200 Standard Range will start later, with the company scheduling them from June 2026.

The CLA was previously sold with internal combustion engine options and was discontinued in 2020. The new CLA will take the place of the A-Class sedan and will also replace the EQA and EQB EVs in the brand’s entry-level portfolio. Ahead of its launch, let’s take a look at the top five things you need to know.Mercedes-Benz CLA: Variants, expected price The new Mercedes-Benz CLA electric will be offered in two variants – 200 standard range and 250 plus long range. Customers who pre-book the car will receive a complimentary wall box home charger as part of the offer. The launch prices are expected to be about Rs. 55 lakh for the CLA 200 Standard Range and Rs. 59 lakh for the CLA 250+ Long Range (ex-showroom). However, the final pricing will depend on prevailing forex rates at the time of the official launch.Mercedes-Benz CLA: Design The new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV emphasises aerodynamics and has a drag coefficient of 0.21. The sedan adopts a low stance, a longer wheelbase and short overhangs for balanced proportions. At the front, it features a gloss-black closed grille panel with illuminated star-pattern elements and a central Mercedes emblem. Slim LED headlamps are connected by a light bar across the fascia, while the bumper has functional air inlets to aid cooling and airflow.In profile, the CLA EV retains frameless doors and a sloping roofline. It also gets flush door handles and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels to improve efficiency. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar with star-pattern detailing reflects the front lighting design. The bumper has a clean finish, while other features include chrome accents, a grille with 142 small backlit stars, a panoramic glass roof with heat-protective coating, and five-spoke aero wheels.Mercedes-Benz CLA: Battery, range The new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is offered in two variants – 200 standard range and 250 plus long range. The 250-plus variant gets an 85 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor, which sends power to the rear wheels and produces 268hp and 335Nm of torque. It also gets a two-speed gearbox and has a claimed range of up to 792 km (WLTP). The CLA 200 Standard Range, the second version of the model, offers a claimed driving range of 542 km.The CLA 250+ supports DC fast charging of up to 320 kW, while the CLA 200 supports up to 200 kW. In 20 minutes, the CLA 250+ can add up to 400 km of range, while the CLA 200 can add up to 320 km. For AC charging, the car supports up to 22 kW through a wallbox charger, with 11 kW as standard. Through Mercedes’ MB.CHARGE network, users can access up to 9,000 charging points across India.Mercedes-Benz CLA: Interior and features The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV features a minimalist, screen-focused cabin that prioritises technology and usability. The highlight of the cabin is a dual-screen layout consisting of a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin features a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, while a carbon-fibre finish on the centre console adds a sportier visual touch. Features include 64-colour ambient lighting, a 16-speaker Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos, heated, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, six 100W USB-C fast-charging ports, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, latest MBUX with Ai integration and more.Mercedes-Benz CLA: Platform and safety The new CLA is underpinned by Mercedes-Benz’s MMA architecture, a platform developed specifically for electric vehicles. In terms of safety, the new CLA has received a full 5-star safety rating by the Euro NCAP. The EV secured 94% in Adult Occupant Protection, and in Child Occupant Protection, the model scored 89%. The vehicle is equipped with a system that detects the installation of a child seat and automatically deactivates the relevant airbags. For Vulnerable Road User protection, which includes pedestrians and cyclists, the EV received 93%. Safety features include eight airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, an electronic parking brake and ADAS.
