Nick Jonas paid an emotional tribute to his childhood friend and ‘sister’, Maya Kibbel on her birth anniversary on Friday. The singer, in a heartfelt post, shared a touching tribute to his childhood friend, who passed away last month after a long private battle with a rare genetic condition.

Sharing a childhood photo with Maya, Nick penned a tear-jerking post that read, “I reached for my phone to call you so many times today, because for as long as I can remember, this has been your day. Your birthday – April 3rd, seared in my memory.”He continued, “I will cherish the time god gave us together forever. Please be at peace in heaven now, and blow your candles with the angels. You are and always will be my sister. I miss you so much. Happy birthday Maya.”

About Maya Kibbel’s demise

Kibbel, who was reportedly a close friend and neighbour of the Jonas Brothers during their childhood, passed away at the age of 30 after battling Wilson’s disease.Her mother, Kiyoko Kibbel, confirmed the sad news in a statement on social media, revealing that Kibbel died on March 7. “It is with great sorrow that I have to post this sad news. Maya had been suffering from a rare disease called Wilson’s disease. She fought hard but her body gave out. Early on 3/7, she collapsed and her heart and lungs stopped working. It was too late and she passed away in the ER,” she wrote.

Maya and Nick’s friendship

Kibbel shared a particularly close bond with Nick, with reports suggesting the two grew up like siblings. Commenting on the post announcing her demise, Nick left a comment that read, “My sister forever. Here for you always @coach_kibbel.”

Nick Jonas’ upcoming films

Nick most recently wrapped up work on his next film ‘Jumanji 3’. The movie was slated for a December 11 release, but the release was later postponed to December 25, where it will clash with Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’. The film will also clash with the Bollywood movie ‘King’, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
