The Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has announced a major recruitment drive for Nursing Officers in the state. Through a short notification issued on June 11, the commission said it will fill 5,989 District Cadre Group-C Nursing Officer posts under the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Odisha government. The recruitment will cover all 30 district establishments in Odisha. Candidates interested in applying will have to complete the process online through the OSSSC portal. The commission said detailed information on district-wise vacancies, category-wise reservations, pay scale, age limit and other recruitment conditions will be released in the detailed advertisement on its website.

OSSSC Nursing officer: Eligibility criteria

They must also possess a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma or a B.Sc. Nursing degree from an institution recognised by the Indian Nursing Council. Applicants should hold a valid registration certificate issued by the Odisha Nursing Council or any State Nursing Council recognised by the Nursing Council of India. In addition, candidates must have passed Class 7 or above with Odia as a language subject. The minimum age required is 21 years, while the upper age limit is 38 years.

Odisha Nursing officer: Selection process

The recruitment process will consist of a written examination followed by document verification. The written test will be conducted in offline OMR-based mode and will have 100 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. Out of the total questions, 60 will be from GNM/B.Sc. Nursing subjects, 25 from practical nursing skills, 10 from arithmetic and five from English. The duration of the exam will be two hours. A penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

OSSSC Nursing officer: Salary

Candidates selected as Nursing Officers will be placed under Level-8 of the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules. The pay scale ranges from Rs 29,200 to Rs 92,300. Selected candidates will also be entitled to allowances as per government norms.
