But when Rajesh Gopakumar achieved AIR 1 in the 1987 IIT-JEE, he made a decision that surprised almost everyone around him. After completing his master’s degree at IIT Kanpur in 1992, Rajesh moved to Princeton University, where he pursued a Ph.D. under Nobel Prize-winning physicist David Gross, one of the world’s leading theoretical physicists.
