‘Mr. India’ is one of the few Hindi films with timeless appeal across generations, even decades after release. Anil Kapoor leads in the main role, Sridevi delivers a standout performance, and Amrish Puri creates the unforgettable villain Mogambo. Now, Imran Khan expressed that he wants to remake the film.
Imran Khan’s crazy dream pitch
In a recent Reddit AMA session, a fan asked Imran Khan about the character he wants to rewrite from any film industry. “Hi Imran, I wanted to ask if you ever get a chance to rewrite (from your perspective) any iconic character (including superheroes) from any industry in the world, whom will you choose?” the user asked. The actor’s reply shocked his fans.Imran replied, “This is going to sound crazy, but… for years I’ve dreamt of making a sequel to Mr. India. I have a deep appreciation for the original, as it serves as a perfect example of how to create a fantastical comic book movie that remains grounded and emotional. It’s fantastic. And Anil Kapoor looks even better today than he did back then.”
Imran Khan on hero or anti-hero
The actor was asked, “We all love Mr. India; he is a legendary character, and it would be very exciting to see a modern take on his journey, so there is nothing crazy about it, but this gets me curious. Will you keep him as a heroic character, or would you like to take a chance of turning him into a classic antihero character?”Khan responded, “For me, the beauty of the character lies in his earnestness and idealism.” Another fan replied to the actor, “Dude, I really think the charm and innocence that Anil ji had in the OG movie can be done justice by you in a remake. Do let me know where I sign up for this to be made a reality.”Another fan added, “Could you BE more relatable?? Mr India is a cult classic that I have introduced to my kids recently. It’s important to pass on our sanskriti, sanskaar, and parampara to the next generation. Please make this happen!!” A fan of Imran also wrote, “Second this.”
