‘Condemn terrorism in all its forms’: UK pays tribute to victims of Pahalgam attack on first anniversary

Marking the first anniversary of the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, the United Kingdom on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims and reiterated its strong stance against terrorism. In a tweet, the British High Commission in India said, “Today, we mark one year since the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam. We pay our respects to the victims, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected.

UK reiterates anti-terror stance

Reaffirming its long-standing position, the UK stressed that it “condemns terrorism in all its forms” and remains committed to working closely with partners, including India, to strengthen peace and security. The message reflects continued diplomatic solidarity with India, even as global attention returns to the tragedy that shook the region a year ago.The attack that took place on April 22 last year, in the scenic town of Pahalgam claimed 26 civilian lives, most of them tourists.Terrorists targeted visitors in the Baisaran Valley, turning a popular tourist destination into a site of horror. The incident is widely regarded as one of the deadliest civilian attacks in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. In the wake of the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces reported the destruction of multiple terror launchpads and significant militant casualties.Subsequent escalations, including cross-border shelling and drone activity, led to a brief but intense military standoff before a ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10, 2025.
