‘Dhruva Natchathiram,’ starring Vikram and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, has been one of Tamil cinema’s most-awaited films. The spy thriller has faced multiple delays over the last decade due to financial issues. Despite its teaser creating excitement among fans back in 2017 and 2018, the film has remained unreleased. Even a planned release in November 2023 was called off at the last minute because of legal and financial hurdles. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited an update on the film’s future.
The Madras High Court dismisses the appeal against the film’s release
In a major development, the Madras High Court has dismissed an appeal filed against an earlier order allowing the release of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram.’ According to Cinema Express, financiers Punniyamurthy and Premkumar challenged the order that permitted the makers to release the film by June 15. However, a division bench comprising Justices P. Velmurugan and Thilagavathi upheld the earlier decision and rejected the appeal. This has come as a big relief for director Gautham Vasudev Menon and the film’s team, bringing the long-delayed project one step closer to release.
Gautham Menon moves the court over the release timeline
Although the court permitted the film’s release by June 15, the makers were unable to meet the deadline. As a result, Gautham Vasudev Menon approached the court seeking an extension of time until July 15 to release the film. The petition came up before Justice K. Kumaresh Babu, who postponed the hearing to June 17. The court is expected to decide whether additional time will be granted for the release of the much-awaited film.

‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ features Vikram, Simran, and Ritu Varma in pivotal roles. The cool and exciting action thriller has attracted millions of fans who were looking forward to watching it in theaters.
